Hi! My name is Ms. Paetznick!

I am currently a student (I have teachers and tests and homework just like you!) at the University of Rhode Island, studying Biology and Education. Why both? Why can't I just go into society with biology alone? Go and be a doctor or something? Well, I believe that the best way to help people is to help them learn how to learn.
Science has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was little. My favorite toy was a plastic shark, I would get in trouble for keeping pet salamanders (that I would find outside of course) under my bed, and I would make rogue gardens of weeds under the back porch steps.
Last summer, I worked at the entomology biocontrol lab (insect biological control) at URI, studying the endangered butterfly seen above (Pieris napi) and a particularly nasty weed known as swallow-wort (Vincetoxicum sp.)
I can say in light of getting older that things haven't changed too much, the passion for everything living remains!
